Going Green : CBDI’s courtesy call with the Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines

May 7, 2024 | CBDI representatives made a courtesy call to the Malaysian Embassy and met with the Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino Anthony, along with Weida’s Country Manager, Benny Tham, to present and discuss the latest features that were incorporated in each housing unit built in CBDI’s flagship community, Liora Homes Naic, in order to address climate change and promote sustainability within the project.

Sherwin Jay Dela Cruz, CBDI Construction Manager, Mohd Fareed Zakaria, Deputy Chief of Mission.

Liora Homes Naic was awarded the Philippines’ First 3 Star BERDE Certified Residential Community during its launch last June 2022. Since then, CBDI continuously advocates the use of sustainable sources of energy in the design and development of its Next Generation Communities.

The BERDE recognition will not be possible without the collaboration and shared vision of CBDI and Weida Philippines. All 3,345 townhomes in Liora Homes have built-in rain water and fresh water collection tanks that prevents surface water run off, thus preventing flooding in the area. Excess rainwater can be reused for toilet flushing, gardening and general cleaning purposes, such as washing cars, outdoor furniture, and patios. As a result, every homeowner can immediately feel the savings on their monthly water bills.

This climate responsive and resilient design was also appreciated by Embassy of Malaysia’s Trade Commissioner Intan Zalani, Counsellor Nurriha Ahmad, and Deputy Chief of Mission Mohd. Fareed Zakaria.

More importantly, this sustainable feature can also be seen in CBDI-affiliate communities. Kaia Homes Naic, which is an affordable housing community, likewise has built-in rainwater collection tanks directly connected to the unit’s water closet, thus enabling every Juan to take part in saving Mother Nature.
