{"id":80890,"date":"2022-09-22T13:18:01","date_gmt":"2022-09-22T05:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mycitihomes.com.ph\/?p=80890"},"modified":"2025-11-25T13:50:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T05:50:35","slug":"philgbc-green-rating-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cbdi.com.ph\/staging\/philgbc-green-rating-system\/","title":{"rendered":"PHILGBC rolls out green rating system for wide-scale projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MKZCKXgbc6s\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">The <\/span> <a style=\"font-size: 14px;\" href=\"https:\/\/philgbc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philippine Green Building Council<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\"> (<\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 14px;\">PHILGBC<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">) opened to the public a rating tool that measures the design sustainability of wide-scale development projects, such as communities and campuses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The first version of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.berdeonline.org\/userguide\/districts\/latest\/\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-safelink=\"true\" data-linkindex=\"0\">Berde \u2014 Districts<\/a>, unveiled Sept. 19, evaluates the environmental, social, and economic impact of green projects based on management; use of land and ecology; energy; water; waste; materials; transportation; health and well-being; emissions; community engagement; and economic opportunity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Berde \u2014 Districts] aims to be holistic in its criteria, including developmental and environmental aspects, but also elements related to livelihood, and proximity between work and home,\u201d said John Philip Wang, executive vice president of Citihomes Builder and Development, Inc., at a Sept. 19 session of <a href=\"https:\/\/philgbc.org\/building-green-2022-conference-digital-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PHILGBC\u2019s Building Green 2022 Conference<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the green building rating system, he added, is \u201ccontribute to the principle of balance \u2014 the hardest thing to achieve in life, as opposed to success, which many people identify with.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Certification ratings are on a five-star scale, with five stars or \u201cworld class\u201d being the highest and one star or \u201c<em>good practice<\/em>\u201d being the lowest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Only projects that comply with the minimum system requirements, completed the assessment process, and achieved at least the minimum rating, may be certified under the BERDE rating scheme.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Citihomes\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/mycitihomes.com.ph\/portfolio\/liora-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Liora Homes Naic<\/a> in Cavite, which received three stars (\u201cexemplar practice\u201d), is the first residential community certified under Berde \u2014 Districts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Other certifications from the pilot implementation are:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/aboitizland.com\/lima-technology-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LIMA Land<\/a>, Inc.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/aboitizinfracapital.com\/projects\/lima-estate-location-lipa-malvar-batangas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LIMA Estate<\/a> in Lipa City, Batangas (the first certified industrial estate, five stars)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/aclk?sa=l&amp;ai=DChcSEwip0Zbu0af6AhXw2kwCHdTlCWkYABAAGgJ0bQ&amp;sig=AOD64_0wQFmKTF8pRff4cvrQMFlXb_unAw&amp;q&amp;adurl&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjSiI7u0af6AhXspVYBHfcdDt0Q0Qx6BAgEEAE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arthaland<\/a> Corporation\u2019s Sevina Park in Binan, Laguna (the first certified mixed-use community, five stars);<\/li>\n<li>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.filinvestgroup.com\/our-businesses\/filinvest-alabang-inc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Filinvest Alabang<\/a> Inc.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/filinvestcity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Filinvest City<\/a> (the first central business district, three stars).\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 794-hectare <a href=\"https:\/\/aboitizinfracapital.com\/projects\/lima-estate-location-lipa-malvar-batangas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LIMA Estate<\/a> also won <strong>PHILGBC\u2019s<\/strong> Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance for the Commercial category of the council\u2019s Leadership in Green Building Awards.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a rapidly changing and competitive world, the only way forward is to elevate and transform the way we do business,\u201d Rafael Fernandez de Mesa, president of conglomerate Aboitiz Group\u2019s LIMA Land, Inc., at the same event. \u201cTherefore, we are committed to putting sustainability at the forefront of everything we do.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aboitizpower.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aboitiz Power\u2019<\/a>s retail electricity supplier delivers 18 megawatts of renewable energy from its geothermal power plants to LIMA\u2019s customers. Majority of industrial locators, meanwhile, use solar roof-mounted systems to help cover their energy demand and produce a combined 17 megawatts of power from solar energy. In the works too is a smart and interconnected water network.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mycitihomes.com.ph\/portfolio\/liora-homes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liora<\/a>, for its part, aims to bring the Citihomes closer to its objective of net carbon zero, Mr. Wang said.
