Urban gardening<\/a> has been a hot topic as of late, thanks to the challenges in food shopping brought about by the Coronavirus<\/a> health crisis. Many are experiencing long queues at grocery stores, supplies hoarding, and delays in the supply chain during periods of enhanced community quarantine.<\/span> The pandemic has definitely made everyone rethink their way of life. A simple trip to the grocery store may not be so simple anymore with the number of limitations experienced and precautions that need to be taken. What was once thought of as a fun erstwhile hobby is now being seen as a solution to help with food sustainability during the new normal. It can be as easy as starting some herbs from scraps in containers on a kitchen windowsill, or some vegetable seeds planted in pots situated outside your home. Gardens can easily be started in a balcony, a backyard, or a community. Urban gardening has a positive financial impact.\u00a0<\/b><\/h4>\n

By planting some herbs and vegetables in the convenience of your own backyard, you are able to harvest all the benefits–no pun intended. Quick-growing herbs like mint, spring onions, and basil will give you continuous produce, which means no longer needing to buy these from the store. There will also be an opportunity to cultivate high-value crops like varieties of lettuce, dill, tarragon, stevia, and more.
